Garage Shelving Plans PDF, 8 Foot Heavy Duty 2x4 and Plywood Storage Rack, Basement Shelf Woodworking Plan for Beginners, Download
An 8 foot, four tier garage rack. A dead simple 2x4 frame with plywood decks that cover the FULL 24 inch depth, so nothing falls through the front or the back - which is exactly where most 2x4-only shelf plans let you down.
DIGITAL PLAN (PDF) - this is a downloadable build plan, not a physical product.

FINISHED SIZE
96" W x 24" D x 72 3/4" H. Decks at 18, 36, 54 and 72 inches give 13 3/4 inches of clear height between them - room for paint cans, tool cases and stacked bins. Build notes include a three-shelf version with 19 3/4 inch clearance, and a 4 foot wide single-bay version.
SKILL LEVEL
Beginner. Every cut is square. If you can cut a 2x4 to length and drive a screw, you can build this. Most home centres will rip the plywood sheets for you for free.
ANCHOR TO THE WALL: Fasten the top of this unit to a wall stud with an anti-tip strap or steel L-bracket (listed in the shopping list). Tall furniture that is not anchored can tip over if someone climbs or pulls on it.
BUILD TIME AND COST
4 to 5 hours. About $190-275 in lumber in the US - fifteen 8-foot 2x4s and two sheets of 3/4 plywood. Every part comes out of an 8 foot board, so it all fits in a small car.
WHY THIS PLAN
Every part was modelled in 3D and machine checked for fit before it was drawn, so the parts actually assemble. Measurements use ACTUAL lumber sizes, not nominal. The plan also shows how to shorten it to 4 feet.
