Planning Postpartum

Practical preparation

for recovery, baby care, and life after birth.

Beyond the Birth

The fourth trimester is a huge transition, but most preparation still stops at the birth.

This course was built to fill that gap. It gives you practical, realistic guidance for recovery, baby care, feeding, sleep, support, and the everyday logistics that can make the early weeks feel much harder than expected.

It’s designed to help you prepare together, make decisions before you’re exhausted, and build a plan that actually fits your family rather than somebody else’s idea of how this period should look.

Hi, I'm Anice

I'm a qualified Postpartum Doula and mom of two. I care deeply about helping parents feel informed without feeling frightened, and providing advice that does not make assumptions and respects individual circumstances and choices. My approach is practical, evidence-based, and rooted in the belief that postpartum works better when the load is understood and shared.

Inside the Course

The course is divided into four practical sections. Each one helps you understand a different area of demand and turn that understanding into a plan for your own family.

Life After Birth

Understand what the mother’s body is recovering from, how healing changes over time and why so much of the work remains invisible.

This section helps you plan for:

  • physical recovery after pregnancy and birth
  • rest, nourishment and gradual return to activity
  • changing needs across the different stages of recovery
  • signs that additional care or support may be needed
  • protecting recovery while everyday life and baby care continue

Nutrition as Support

Learn how food and hydration can support recovery, energy and clearer thinking during a period of broken sleep and sustained demand.

This section covers:

  • nutrition for healing and stable energy
  • realistic food planning for exhausted parents
  • the additional demands of breastfeeding and milk production
  • nutrition and hydration for both parents
  • simple systems that make eating and drinking easier when time and capacity are limited

Life With a Baby

Get a realistic introduction to newborn feeding, sleep, nappies, behaviour and the everyday unpredictability of caring for a baby.

This section helps you:

  • understand what is generally normal in the early weeks
  • recognise when you may need additional help
  • approach newborn sleep with both safety and parental exhaustion in mind
  • create a flexible plan for feeding, soothing, sleep and shared baby care

Teamwork and Support

Make the full workload visible and decide how it will be carried before exhaustion and assumptions begin making those decisions for you.

This section helps you plan:

  • the partner’s role as an equal parent and caregiver
  • care for the mother, the baby, the household and each other
  • ownership of practical tasks and hidden mental work
  • how nights, meals, appointments and household logistics will be managed
  • what support is genuinely available to you
  • how family, friends or paid providers can reduce the load without creating more work
  • what to do when support changes or the original plan is no longer working

Final Notes

Finish with a practical way to navigate the enormous amount of advice, opinion and conflicting information that comes with new parenthood.

This section helps you:

  • assess where information comes from and whether it is relevant to your situation
  • recognise fear-based, rigid or unrealistic advice
  • separate genuine safety concerns from preference presented as fact
  • make informed decisions without needing to follow every recommendation
  • trust that you can learn, adapt and change your mind as you get to know your baby

The course closes with a reminder that preparation is not about having every answer. It is about understanding what matters, knowing where to look for help and feeling more confident making decisions together.
