Many years ago, before I started writing my own patterns, I designed this gorgeous ornament cover. I love Russian Leaves, and have made several pieces with them or with diagonal peyote stitch, but this was my favourite project by far.

Now it’s time to revive the pattern and write it up, and here it is! Just for you to make.

As you will see, the ornament cover is heavily fringed. There is no set way to do this, you can make the fringe any way you like, with any beads you like. I have written this pattern with the beads I used. You can use drops, daggers, magatamas, long magatamas, pip beads or anything you like.

The colour is up to you too. I have written the pattern in a generic blue and gold but as you can see, these covers look great in all colours. Just have fun!
