This King Tut Art Project connects art, history, symbolism and culture. Students create a King Tut artwork inspired by Ancient Egyptian art and King Tut's sarcophagus, using oil pastels on black construction paper for rich gold tones, bright blues and strong outlines.

It suits Grades 4 to 6, upper elementary art, art history units and homeschool art. A student reading introduces Ancient Egyptian art, spirituality, tombs, the afterlife, the discovery of King Tut's tomb, his funerary mask and symbolic Egyptian imagery, so students understand the meaning behind what they are making.
