These cozy hats will keep you warm right through the winter and they look splendid in low-contrast, monochromatic colours. Choose from two simple diamond designs and knit either a regular or a fold-up brim.


A fingering OR sport weight yarn with some fuzz content like angora or mohair makes the hat beyond comfy with a perfect halo. See the chart on page 3 for details about sizing and yardage (for fold-up brims).


These hats are constructed from the bottom to the crown with simple decreases on the top. Circular needles are used but you may use either dpns or Magic Loop method to close up the crown. Instructions for a Tubular Cast On are given and provide a stretchy and professional-looking edge.

Gauge

  • approx 35 sts and 42 rows = 10 cm (4”) in stranded patt on 3.25 mm after blocking (fingering)
  • approx 32 sts and 36 rows (sport)

  • 2.75 mm (US 2) 40 cm (16”) circs
  • 3.25 mm (US 3) 40 cm (16”) circs
  • 3.25 mm (US 3) dpns
  • 3 mm (US C) crochet hook (for tubular cast on) or size needed to obtain gauge
