Speed Training at Home for Young Athletes

This 6 Week Speed Training at Home programme has been carefully designed to improve acceleration, speed, footwork, agility, balance, coordination and core strength through 2 structured training sessions per week. Each session lasts approximately 30 to 35 minutes, making it easy to fit around school, sports training and family life.

Whether your child plays football, rugby, basketball, netball, hockey, athletics, tennis or any other sport, this programme will help them build the physical foundations needed to move more efficiently, change direction quicker and perform with greater confidence.

The programme is split into three progressive phases over six weeks, ensuring your child continues to improve from week to week. Every session includes a structured warm up, speed or agility drills, footwork, balance exercises and trunk stability work, with clearly laid out sets, reps, rest periods and progression throughout. There is no guesswork. Simply follow the programme exactly as written.

Equipment required:

• Mini hurdles (or books/cushions as an alternative)

• Mini hip resistance band

• Long resistance band

• Small step or box (optional for Weeks 5 and 6)

• Approximately 2 to 3 metres of space

Please note: This is a written training programme only. Exercise demonstration videos are not included, so this product is best suited to parents and athletes who are comfortable following written exercise instructions.

The programme also includes performance testing at the beginning and end of the six weeks, allowing you to track improvements in balance, coordination, footwork and movement quality.

Recommended age: 9 years and above.
