I am the daughter of Eric Thomas Taylor and Ebony Lewis, who was born on December 20, 1987.  I am my mother first born and my father first daughter.  I was given the nickname “Booga”  by my father.  These are the people I look to define and tell me who I am. In them, I searched for my identity only to learn that it’s something you discover and is not taught.

I am the granddaughter of Lonnie E. Lewis, Sr., Dolores Inez Lewis, Horace Taylor and Ernestine Taylor. A granddaughter is a treasure, and that I am. Who’s worth you cannot measure, except by the love in your heart.  In my life they represent a place of safety, security, and strength.  Mama Dede, thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for me and our family.

I am the mother of two beautiful daughters Milaijah A. Poole and Nylah’Jahalaeyeva Woldezgi Hedru and one handsome son Yona Than Woldezgi Hedru, the father of the youngest two is Yohans Hedru. When it comes to being a mother, I do it effortlessly, with patience and unconditional love.  I am committed to the well-being of my children and they will always come first. There is nothing in life that brings me more fulfillment than providing and taking care of my children. For a mother ‘s work is never done.

I am a sister of Arron Thomas Taylor, Lonnie Lewis, DeJohn Taylor, Chamberlin Taylor, Eric Taylor Jr. (1), Eric Taylor Jr. (2), Alia Ali Kazan, Lia Ali Kazan, Krya Taylor, Arilana Taylor, and Erica Taylor. As a sister, it is important that I allow them to have their own identity without taking on the identity of me.  I learned the value of doing what is right instead of being right. And because I am a sister, my siblings will always have a friend. Together forever and never apart. Sometimes in distance but always in heart. A perfect sister I am not, but thankful I won’t be forgot.

I am the niece of Patricia Brown, La Tanyua Thompson, Theda Lewis, Nyrie Lewis, Crecy James, Shandra Taylor, Erika Taylor, Maurice Brown, Ronald Hudson, and Lenard Taylor. Aunts and Uncles are nothing more than an extension of a parent with a friendship built inside. Of all the many blessings, being a niece is one I enjoy the most. Only a niece can give you a hug like a daughter, challenge you like life, share secrets like a sibling and show love like a friend.

I am an aunt, cousin, and friend to many. With tearful eyes we say pause and not goodbye. And though the chain is broken, my link is now connected to all the names in red.

I am a child of God and that has made all the difference in my life, establishing my identity, worth, confidence and self-esteem.  It was in this relationship, I learned who I was and that I was enough just as I am.  Here is where I  surrender as I learned how to give and receive love.
