In the deserts of La Guajira — Colombia's northernmost point where the Andes give way to the Caribbean and a vast, sun-scorched peninsula reaches toward Venezuela — the Wayuu people have lived for centuries on their own terms. Among the most independent and culturally resilient indigenous peoples in South America, the Wayuu women are celebrated across the world for their artistry, their pride and their extraordinary traditional dress.

This watercolour portrait celebrates a Wayuu woman in her element: radiant, dignified, surrounded by the colours and patterns of her culture — vivid landscape, and the light of La Guajira's merciless, beautiful sky.

Perfect for: boho and eclectic interiors, living rooms, bedrooms, studios, portrait art lovers, anyone who celebrates the women and cultures of South America.

A wonderful gift for: Colombians proud of their indigenous heritage, travellers who visited La Guajira, art collectors, anyone who believes the world's greatest portraits are made outside of museums.

🖨 HOW TO PRINT

The vivid colours of this portrait demand glossy photo paper — it makes the warm tones and geometric patterns come alive on the wall. For a boho feel, consider printing on canvas through an online service (Canvaspop, Printful) and leaving it unframed.

💛 FROM MACONDO PRINTS

"British Roots. Colombian Heart."

The Wayuu women of La Guajira have survived conquest, drought, and everything the desert and the world could throw at them. They are still here. Still weaving. Still radiant. This print is our tribute to them — and a reminder that Colombia's greatest strength has always been its people. Wayuu wisdom and beauty. On your wall.
