Kummer, F. A. — Souvenir de la Suisse (Concertino) for Cello and Piano/String Quartet/Orchestra

Kummer did not limit himself to writing pedagogical works, even though he is almost exclusively remembered for those. His concertante pieces reflect his lifelong job as an opera cellist, with long lyrical melodies alternating with fiendishly difficult and spectacular virtuoso passages.

His Concertino "Souvenir de la Suisse" Op. 30, was first published around 1836 and gives the cellist the possibility of performing it with Piano, String Quartet, or Full Orchestra.
