This Watercolor Painting Art Lesson teaches students the basics of watercolor painting techniques: creating textures, making a color wheel, mixing tints, tones and shades, building values and researching their own chosen theme for a watercolor painting.

Two step-by-step presentations walk students through the techniques and the painting process, with examples of professional work. In the student workbook, students mix colors, research historical and contemporary watercolor painting, write a glossary of terms, explore their theme with reference images and prepare a rough draft before they paint their good copy.
