Geological Survey Bulletin No.1 : Preliminary Report on the Geology of the District East of Gatooma
This bulletin is the first in a series of reports on the geology of the district east of Gatooma, a town in central Zimbabwe. The district covers an area of about 2,000 square kilometers and includes parts of the Great Dyke, a linear belt of mafic and ultramafic rocks that hosts some of the world's largest deposits of platinum group metals, nickel, and chrome. The bulletin provides a preliminary account of the stratigraphy, structure, mineralization, and economic potential of the district, based on field work and literature review. The bulletin also contains a geological map at a scale of 1:100,000 and several cross-sections and photographs to illustrate the main features of the district.
