Around the World in 40 Weeks Digital Slideshow Learning

Take your students on a virtual trip around the world starting in Week 1 in New Zealand and arriving back into New Zealand from the last country on the tour in week 40!

Each week there is a slideshow of activities for the country. At the end of the week, show the students the REVEAL file for that week.

This is a 40 week Inquiry learning resource - or ONE FULL SCHOOL YEAR!

Aims:

• To calculate different amounts of money, to best suit a need at the time;
• To use Google Maps to calculate distance of key attractions/places;
• To keep an accurate record of the amount you spend each week and also of the prediction points earned each week;
• To discover key information (learning) about each of the countries visited;
• To create art that represents various things, in the countries visited;
• To learn simple greetings and words, while visiting each place virtually.
• To attempt to be the student that spends the least amount of money by the end of the 40 weeks, all while still fulfilling the key requirements of the virtual worldwide trip experience. Good Luck!

Guidelines:

1. You are travelling with one adult of your choice (your whole class is also coming with you).
2. Your accommodation and transport expenses in each country during Term Time is kindly paid for by Responders HQ.
3. You will have to pay the flight cost for a yourself (child) and your adult, when travelling to the next country. This will be at the end of each week. Each Friday your teacher will present a country reveal slideshow for you to try to guess where you are going next. For this virtual journey, we will assume that it will take you the weekend to arrive ready in your next country for another week of virtual learning.
4. You will have to pay for the cost of any attractions visited in NZ dollars (for both yourself and your adult) and any souvenirs you might buy. 
5. There will be an activity for each of the 5 days of the week.
6. School Holidays: You will fly to the next country, ready for the start of the next term. You will have to choose a suitable place to stay for the 2 weeks and record the amount spent, for both you and your adult.
7. Where there is a public holiday, you will remain in your chosen country and just do the extra task when the public holiday is over.
8. We suggest you either use an Exercise Book for the 40 weeks, or record your journey in another book. Your teacher will let you know.
9. We encourage your teacher to post photos of your learning on this post so other classes can learn to.
