I wrote this book because I know what it feels like to battle depression and anxiety. There have been many seasons in my life when the darkness felt heavy, the struggle felt overwhelming, and I had to fight to hold on to hope. I have walked through some very trying times. I have overcome drug and alcohol addiction. I went through a divorce in my early twenties. I became a single mother and had to learn how to keep going when life did not look the way I thought it would. Those seasons were painful, but they also became places where God showed me His faithfulness, His mercy, and His power to restore what felt broken. My life is proof that God can turn your mess into a message if you will hold on and not give up. The words in this book came during a time when someone dear to me was experiencing depression so deeply that it was crippling their life and destroying them. As I prayed for them, the Holy Spirit began giving me the words that became this book. What started as prayer turned into a message of hope, truth, and encouragement from the Word of God. My hope is that this book will encourage you and strengthen you in God’s truth. If you are surrounded by darkness, I want you to know that you are not alone. God is right there with you in the middle of it. He sees you. He loves you. He has not forgotten you. And no matter how dark it feels, His light is stronger. All you have to do is let His light in and the darkness will disappear.
