6. AHP-CON-006 — Judgment Matrix Consistency, Consistency Ratio Assessment and Judgment Revision
Description:
This Master Prompt would focus on evaluating whether pairwise judgments demonstrate an acceptable level of logical consistency before the resulting weights are interpreted or used for decision-making. It would guide researchers in calculating and interpreting the maximum eigenvalue, Consistency Index (CI), Random Index (RI) and Consistency Ratio (CR), while explaining the mathematical and conceptual reasoning behind consistency assessment.
A major emphasis would be placed on treating consistency as a quality-control mechanism for judgments rather than merely a threshold to report. Researchers would identify inconsistent matrices, investigate contradictory comparisons and determine whether judgments should be reviewed, repeated or retained with explicit justification. Individual consistency would also be distinguished from agreement or representativeness within group decision-making. This distinction is particularly important because the literature identifies rationality/individual coherence and representativeness/group coherence as related but separate issues. Studies in the collection also explicitly report acceptable CR values below 0.10 and compare consistency across alternative AHP formulations.
