It seems most who write about a family’s genealogy are primarily interested in a family tree. Family trees are not only interesting; they are also often necessary, but I have always been more interested in “the story”. I would like to know more than dates and names and relationships. With this in mind I attempted to tell what I learned about my ancestors in the Bogner family, and how and why they got where they did.

This work was my attempt at making a list of historical facts about my family as best I could with the evidence available.

As far as we know, our branch of the Bogner family began in the United States with the arrival of Christopher Bogner (Christof in German), born 1814 or 1815. He came to New Orleans in the fall of 1840 eventually making his way to St. Louis, Missouri, but I will mention a bit about what we know of his origins in Germany, and of those we know he left behind or came before him.
