at their core, there are just ten digits —

zero, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, and nine. 



Nearly every other number you'll ever encounter — your age, the 

price of a car, the distance to the moon, the stars in the sky — can be 

built from just those same ten digits arranged in different ways. When

children realize they only have to master ten building blocks, some of
