Y10 Core Booklet 10 - Statistics and probability | Original 44-page PDF
Download Dr Taylan Çeltik’s original 44-page Y10 Core Booklet 10 - Statistics and probability, covering pie charts, mean/median/mode/range, frequency tables, missing-score problems and probability from statistical data, with selected original past-paper practice.
This is the original teaching booklet, retaining its historical question numbers, diagrams, equations and included selected worked examples. It is not a newly authored complete solutions pack. Digital PDF download only.
A separate clarification PDF is included. Page 8, Q10-5(a): the nine values sum to 16. The mean is 16/9 = 1.777… and rounds to 1.78 to two decimal places, rather than the printed 1.77. Pages 9–10, median position: order the values. For odd n, take position (n + 1)/2; for even n, average positions n/2 and n/2 + 1. The displayed (n + 1)/2 position rule belongs to odd n, although it follows the even-data paragraph in the original. The rule does not change at 100 values, and the large-frequency shortcut is not a general replacement. Page 15, Q10-14(d): the copied answer line is unrelated to the basketball heights. The correct mean is 193.8 cm, median 194 cm, modes 193 cm and 198 cm, and range 15 cm. In Q10-14(e), the temperature data give mean approximately 65.5°F, median 62.5°F, mode 55°F and range 31°F. Page 22, selected past-paper Question 1(iv): 236/60 = 3.933…; the requested one-decimal-place answer is 3.9, rather than the worked scan’s 3.93. Page 30, selected past-paper Question 5: the value 50 occurs four times, not three. The mean is 659/15 = 43.933… ≈ 43.9 and the median is 47. The written intermediate value 44.1 is inconsistent with these data. Page 32 repeats the worked scan for Question 5 instead of answering the different Question 6 on page 31. For Question 6, the mean is 662/15 = 44.133… ≈ 44.1, the median is 48, and the mode is 50 (four occurrences).
Historical scanned worked examples are softer than the typed text. All page content remains in its original positions.
Use the exact question/page references in each matching video description. The booklet includes further practice beyond each selected recording. Spiral learning connects these skills with earlier number, algebra, graph and geometry ideas.
