About this resource:

This revision guide is designed for students aiming for Grades 7–9.

Written by our founding partner and developed through years of experience, alongside consultation with teachers, curriculum leaders and examiners, this resource reflects extensive work with high-attaining students across Trafford schools and beyond. We recognised early on that many revision guides fall short for top-grade students, often relying on surface-level summaries rather than cultivating the perceptive insight and exceptional familiarity with the text required to secure the highest marks.

This guide does things differently.

What makes it different?

  • Text-led, not summary-based: students work directly from Jekyll and Hyde, developing deep familiarity with Stevenson’s language, methods and ideas.
  • Perceptive analysis: carefully guided commentary helps students track ideas across the text and develop evaluative, sophisticated interpretations.
  • Active engagement: tasks are designed to make students think, question and connect ideas — exactly what examiners reward at the top levels.

Our ethos:

There are no shortcuts to top grades. Excellence comes from sustained, meaningful engagement with the text.

This guide mirrors our proven classroom approach: close reading, detailed analysis, exploration of nuanced and sometimes conflicting interpretations, and a relentless focus on depth. Every page is designed to push students beyond surface-level responses and towards confident, assured exam writing.

Who this is for?

  • GCSE English Literature students targeting Grades 7–9
