OshKosh Humvee Light
The High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) (IEDs)
Soldiers in Afghanistan used a strategy to maximize Humvees' mobility and agility. This included stripping away unnecessary armor and removing doors to make vehicles more maneuverable. This practice enhanced the Humvee's agility and speed, allowing quick response to tactical situations. The removal of doors improved visibility and situational awareness but reduced protection for occupants. As IEDs became a primary tactic, military forces had to adapt their vehicle configurations and tactics. Specialized armor kits, blast-resistant features, and countermeasures were developed to mitigate IED risks while maintaining balance.
