NAKEDNESS – The Shame of Thy Nakedness by Bro H
“The man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.” “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, so I hid myself.” [Verse 1] They stood before the Lord naked, The man and wife were not ashamed; No guilt had entered, no transgression, No sin had opened eyes to shame. But when they broke the given commandment, Their opened eyes beheld their fall; They stitched the leaves their hands could gather And hid themselves when Yahweh called. The leaves were man’s invented worship, A dying garment made by pride; Then blood was shed and skins were given— The sacrifice foretold the Christ. [Chorus] Cover not your sin with fig leaves; They will wither, dry, and fall. Every hidden work lies naked When the Judge of earth shall call. You may robe yourself in doctrine, Gold, tradition, rank, and name; But without the blood-bought garment, You are naked in your shame. [Verse 2] Ham crossed into Noah’s marriage And violated his father’s wife; He did not merely look and mock him— He took what belonged to his father. Scripture later names the meaning: “Your father’s wife is his nakedness.” Noah woke and knew what Ham had done; Canaan bore the curse for it. Shem and Japheth bore the garment, Backward, with their faces turned; They covered what Ham had left exposed And would not gaze where shame had burned. [Verse 3] Israel cast away restraint, And Aaron left the people bare; Their enemies beheld the weakness Of a nation stripped and exposed. The nakedness of land is weakness— Broken borders, open gates; Unguarded roads and ruined defenses Leave a nation stripped before its foes.[Verse 4] “I spread My garment over you And covered all your nakedness; I swore an oath and entered covenant, And you became Mine,” Yahweh said. Her lovers turned and stripped her naked, Took her jewels and her clothes; She became uncovered through rebellion And stood naked before her foes. [Verse 5] Seminaries take the garment, Cut the covenant from the Word; Trade the Law for lawless license, Make the prophets go unheard. Preachers leave the flock defenseless, Strip identity and name; Bless the hands that rob the birthright, Then call nakedness no shame. They remove the sword and breastplate, Sell obedience as a chain; Promise heaven through escapism While the people lie there slain. They leave our fathers without history, Leave the Kingdom without land; Leave the church without repentance, With a hymnbook in her hand. [Spoken Scripture — music drops low] “Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and need nothing,’ and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.” [Verse 6] Laodicea counts her riches, Measures favor by her gold; Blind within her jeweled temple, Neither burning hot nor cold. Jesus Christ is standing at the doorway, While His name remains inside; Creeds are polished, choirs are singing, But the King has been denied. “I counsel you to buy from Me White garments, that you may be clothed.” He rebukes the ones He loves: Be zealous and repent. [Bridge — Hebrews 4:13] “There is no creature hidden from His sight, But all things are naked and exposed Before the eyes of Him To Whom we must give account.” No robe can hide a work of darkness, No title changes wrong to right; No pulpit shields a false instructor— All stand naked in His sight. [Final Verse — 2 Corinthians 5] “We who are in this tent groan, being burdened; not that we desire to be unclothed, but that we desire to be clothed, that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.” Paul did not hope for disembodiment Or praise a bodiless release; He longed to wear the resurrection body, Raised immortal through Jesus Christ. Corruption will put on incorruption; Mortality be clothed with life. The final covering is resurrection— Death is swallowed up in victory. [Final Chorus] Cover not your sin with fig leaves; They will wither, dry, and fall. Every hidden work lies naked When the Judge of earth shall call. Man-made garments cannot save you; Gold and learning cannot hide. Yahweh gives the only covering— Jesus Christ, the Crucified. [Outro — Revelation 16:15] “Blessed is the one who watches and keeps his garments, so that he does not walk naked and they see his shame.”
