O Ottoman youth! 

Know that history is not a faded legacy from the past. Perhaps, history is the sign of a new beginning. 

Also know that the work You hold in Your hands is neither a novel nor a fantasy epic without relation to reality. Something of the kind has neither been written nor been told. 

Rather, it is a work which is completely based upon realities. It is the result of great efforts and intensive researches of scriptures which had been abandoned to their fates on the dusty shelves of the Ottoman archive in the Topkapi Palace. 

Turkey which is still under the proprietorship of the Ottomans is constructed upon a firm foundation of a Seljuk and Ottoman past of 1000 years. 

Why do historians not describe our glorious past with all its aspects, but write nothing but lies and criticism in a dry and soulless manner. Thus, they evoke contempt and hatred and create a gap between ancestors and descendants instead of making our glorious past to be loved. We leave the answer of this question to the lovers of the glorious Ottomans. Nevertheless, our response to those who make our glorious past to be condemned is as follows: 

“Instead of searching for something wrong among all the right the Ottomans have done for 700 years, mention something right among all the wrong things those you have elected have done for 80 years.” 

Concerning the content of this book we shall remark that we worked on the unknown parts of history, not on the known parts. Therefore, we did not consider it necessary to go into the details which are written encyclopedias. For, our intention was not to write a history book. 

Instead, we treated the verses of the Holy Quran and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.v.) with regard to the untold spiritual aspects of history and of the Ottoman sultans. Moreover we intended to present the events the Prophet (s.a.v.) has informed us about the past and the future. The prophetic saying, “A person who does not know in what time he lives is in ignorance”, obligated us to write this book. 

All the information we provide in this book are to be found in the Ottoman archives and in the works of such great Ottoman shaykhs and historians like Hoca Sadeddin, ibn Kemal, Ahmed Cevded Paşa, Abu Suud Efendi, Halimzâde Nurullah Efendi, Evliya Çelebi, Aşık Paşazâde, Musfafa Sabri Paşa. The rightest source who is still alive and to whom we referred to was Shaykh Nâzım al-Qubrusiî. Unfortunately, all these most trustworthy sources we have mentioned are not taken seriously by the historians of today. 

Making it short, we now leave you alone with the realities of history.
