(8) 55+ Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven According to Jesus
‘Enclosed are 55+ Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven According to Jesus' (Volume Eight)
Follow me
Jesus says, ‘Follow Me,’ at least 13 times (depending on the translation) in the Gospels.
These instances are direct commands to individuals or groups to follow Him.
Devout Christians understand this phrase "follow me" to be a call to obedience and that it applies not only to the original disciples but also to believers today.
The core message of "follow me" is consistent throughout the Gospels as an invitation to discipleship and to walk as he walked.
Keep God’s Word
If someone claims, “I know him well!”
but doesn’t keep his commandments,
he’s obviously a liar.
His life doesn’t match his words.
But the one who keeps God’s word is
the person in whom we see
God’s mature love.
This is the only way to be sure we’re in God.
Anyone who claims to be intimate with God
ought to live the same kind of life Jesus lived.
1 John 2:6 MSG
By following Jesus we’ll know that we’ll end up where He is.
Jesus says that anyone that genuinely (not just lipservice) follows Him ‘shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.’
Jesus also says that there are many rooms in His Father’s house and that He will prepare a place there for His followers. He promises His followers that He will come back and welcome us into His presence so that we may be where He is.
And then He says,
✨“You know the way to the place ✨ where I am going.”✨
Jesus says this with confidence because He knows that He’s given His disciples (and us) the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Heaven is a safe place where no sinners are allowed to enter.
That’s why we need keys, to keep the baddies out.
But nothing unclean will ever enter it,
nor anyone who does what is detestable or false,
but only those who are written
in the Lamb’s book of life.
(Revelation 21:27)
I’m confident that Heaven and The Holy City will be more like Fort Knox than my place, where my daughter Crystal wasn’t able to get in when she didn’t have her key on her.
Let's see what these Keys to the Kingdom are.
We can find the Keys to the Kingdom in the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Why do we trust the Gospels?
Definition of the gospel truth is; the absolute truth and something that is unquestionably true.
Scripture tells us that
… A matter must be established
by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Deuteronomy 19:15
so that ‘every matter may be established
by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’
Matthew 18:16
These verses I just quoted tell us how to establish if someone is a sinner or not.
But I dare say that the testimony of two or three correlating witnesses accounts will stand up to scrutiny in most courtrooms when a judge is trying to establish the truth of a matter.
With the Gospels we often have three, and sometimes four harmonising witness accounts. And this is one compelling reason why we can rely on the Gospels as truth.
What about faith and believing in Jesus?
Isn’t having faith key?
Sure it is.
What about believing in Jesus?
Yep another key.
Some say that just having faith is key. Others mention that believing in Jesus will swing those Pearly Gates. And then there are some who say that ‘keeping the Commandments’ is a key factor.
And even though those are three important keys; these are only three keys out of a whole bunch of important keys.
And sadly, many Christians, think that these are the only keys.
Next I'll list fiftyfive+ Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven; directives given by Jesus.
I am sure that I missed some. And it is my hope and prayer that I mention enough keys (as listed in the Gospels) to wet people’s appetite and entice my readers to look for more and share these with me and each other.
