Phase Fracture is a tonal stutter effect by SACRED DSP. Stutter that sings.

Most stutter effects just chop your sound up. Phase Fracture grabs a sliver of your sound and plays it like an instrument: tuned to a note, stepping through a melody, snapped to your scale and thrown around the stereo field by two LFOs that keep each other moving. Glitchy? Very. Random noise? Never.

FEATURES

- TONAL STUTTER: set TIME to NOTE and the loop length locks to the period of a real note. Loop a sliver that short and it stops sounding like a stutter and starts sounding like a synth, built from your own audio.

- PITCH TRAJECTORY: draw an 8-step melody that plays across every loop. Pick a SCALE and ROOT (18 scales, from Phrygian Dominant to Minor Pentatonic) and every step lands in key. RANGE up to 4 octaves, GLIDE from snappy to liquid. PITCH 0 gives classic, punchy stutters at the original pitch.

- TIME: four ways to set the loop length: milliseconds (0.25–2000 ms), host sync (1/1 to 1/256), a frequency (HZ) or a note. CYCLES sets how many periods fit in one loop.

- REPEATS + RECAPTURE: how many times a loop plays (1–64) before grabbing fresh audio, or recapture on every beat of the grid.

- DUAL LFOs: two LFOs (sine, triangle, square, saw, S&H; free or synced) with 16 destinations each. Point them at each other and the movement keeps evolving.

- STEREO FRACTURE: pulls the left and right read heads apart so the loops smear across the stereo field. 0% stays mono-safe. Switch STEREO LINK off and each side gets its own time, pitch shape and scale.

- MOTION: REVERSE, FREEZE, and a TRIGGER button you can automate for fills.

- Factory presets, clickless bypass, and presets of your own.

Built with psytrance fills and rolling FX in mind, but it works on any source in any genre: vocals, drums, basses, synths, pads and transitions.

INSTALLATION

Mac: copy PhaseFracture.component to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and PhaseFracture.vst3 to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 (in Finder press Cmd+Shift+G and paste the folder path).

The plugin is not signed by Apple yet, so macOS asks once: go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway and restart your DAW.

Still not showing? Run this once in Terminal:

Windows: copy the PhaseFracture.vst3 folder to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 and restart your DAW.
