Individual Tax Organizer and Checklist Excel for the 2026 tax year — income documents, deductions, a tax estimate, and a filing checklist with a dashboard. Know which forms have arrived, which deductions actually help, and whether you owe before filing day.

Built for individual filers who want every W-2 and 1099 tracked, every deduction listed with its receipt status, and an honest estimate of the tax bill — without accounting software. If a form is missing or a deduction does not clear the limit, this workbook shows it before April 15.

WHAT'S INCLUDED (6 sheets):

- Income Documents Checklist — document, source or payer, expected amount, received flag, date received, amount received, and notes for every W-2, 1099, and other form. Amount received fills in by formula when a form is marked Yes.

- Deduction Checklist — mortgage interest, property tax, state income tax, charitable cash and noncash gifts, and medical costs, with the deductible amount for each. Medical costs only count above 7.5 percent of AGI.

- Tax Summary and Estimate — total income, adjustments, AGI, itemized vs standard deduction, taxable income, estimated federal tax from a 2026 bracket table, withholding, estimated payments, and the refund or balance due.

- Filing Checklist and Deadlines — 10 filing tasks with due dates, from collecting the W-2 to paying the balance due by April 15, 2027.

- Dashboard — expected and received income, missing documents, deductions, taxable income, estimated tax, balance due, and filing readiness.

- Cover and How to Use — start here. Yellow cells are the only ones you edit.

EXAMPLE DATA (2026 tax year, single filer — replace with your own numbers):

- 6 documents; expected income 79,170; received 70,280; missing 8,890 across 2 documents (1099-NEC 8,250 and 1099-B 640).

- Adjustments 3,100 (student loan interest 600, IRA 1,500, HSA 1,000); AGI 76,070.

- Itemized deductions 15,450 (mortgage interest 7,850, property tax 3,200, state income tax 2,750, charity 1,650, medical deductible 0); standard deduction 16,100; deduction used 16,100.

- Taxable income 59,970; estimated federal income tax 8,107.40; effective rate 10.7 percent of AGI.

- Withholding 7,200; estimated payments 300; total paid 7,500; balance due 607.40.

- Filing tasks done 4 of 10; readiness 40 percent.

HOW IT WORKS:

1. Download the Excel file instantly after purchase.

2. On sheet 1, list each W-2 and 1099, the payer, the expected amount, and mark it Yes when it arrives. Amount received fills in by formula.

3. On sheet 2, enter each deduction and whether you have the receipt or form. The deductible amount fills in by formula.

4. On sheet 3, read the AGI, the itemized vs standard comparison, taxable income, and estimated tax — all formulas from sheets 1 and 2.

5. On sheet 4, mark each task Yes as you finish it and watch readiness climb on the Dashboard.

HOW THE NUMBERS WORK:

AGI is total income minus adjustments (student loan interest, IRA, and HSA contributions). The deduction used is the larger of itemized or standard. Taxable income is AGI minus the deduction used. Estimated federal tax is the sum of the tax in each 2026 bracket (10 percent to 11,925, 12 percent to 48,475, 22 percent to 103,350, and higher brackets above that). Refund or balance due is total paid (withholding plus estimated payments) minus estimated tax — a negative number means you owe.

WHO IT'S FOR:

Individual filers, side hustlers with a W-2 and a 1099 or two, and anyone who wants their tax documents, deductions, and filing checklist in one workbook — without accounting software.

PLEASE NOTE:

- This is a digital download. No physical item will be shipped.

- Works in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (upload to Google Drive to open in Sheets).

- Example data for the 2026 tax year is included (6 documents, 79,170 expected income, 2 still missing). Replace it with your own numbers.

- The example is simplified: it covers federal income tax only, uses estimated 2026 brackets and a 16,100 standard deduction for a single filer, and assumes the state refund shown is handled as your preparer advises. It is a planning estimate only.

- This is a planning and organizing tool only, not tax, legal, or CPA advice.

- Due to the nature of digital downloads, refunds are not available. Message me before buying if you have a question.
