When the SugarN's in the Maples
🍁 Seasonal Retirement Notice
When the Sugar’s in the Maples is being retired for the season.
Like maple sap itself, this offering belongs to a time of year — and that time has passed. The kettles cool, the steam fades, and the trees rest.
But as one season settles, another begins.
🍸 Sips with Susan — Volume 1 is arriving — one hundred original libations created at The Gathering Place.
Where the kettles once boiled, now the glasses rise.
🍁 A Note Looking Ahead
While SugarN’s in the Maples is being retired as a standalone seasonal offering, the story of maple is not finished here.
Next season, we hope to gather a small collection of new maple-inspired libations — perhaps five in all — and include them as part of Sips with Susan — Encores (Volume 2).
After all, when the sugar’s in the maples… the ideas tend to flow right along with it.
This maple offering will return when the sap rises again — Around February 2027.
When the Sugar’s In the Maples is a short poetic meditation on season, labor, and quiet knowing—written and read in the North Country, where sap rises before leaves appear.
This digital chapbook includes:
the poem in clean typography
a brief author’s reflection
access to a recorded reading
Offered simply, for those who know the season.
