Freyja's Lament: The Quest for Brísingamen - A Graphic Novel
Some treasures are more than ornaments. Some of them are alive.
In the golden halls of Asgard, Freyja, goddess of love and war, wears Brísingamen: a necklace forged by four dwarf brothers, a jewel that holds the fire of the cosmos and has become part of her very being.
Loki has noticed. And Loki is envious.
One night a raven slips through Freyja's window, and by morning the necklace is gone. With Odin and Heimdall at her side, Freyja follows the thief across the realms: through the shifting seas of Njord's test in Vanaheim, to a Midgard village haunted by a trapped spirit, down to the Norns weaving fate at the roots of Yggdrasil, into the dreams of her ancestors and onto the meadows of Fólkvangr, where the fallen rise to fight once more.
But Brísingamen magnifies whatever heart wears it, and in Loki's hands it turns the trickster into a storm that even Thor cannot stop. To win it back, Freyja will need more than strength. She will need understanding.
A full-colour Norse mythology graphic novel about envy, power and wisdom, with a light touch of humour (Loki has a novel he really should finish). Every chapter opens with a richly decorated illuminated-manuscript page from the diary of an ordinary witness: a scholar, a potter, a fisherman, a Valkyrie in training.
