The Hotel GM Interview Playbook

I bought The Hotel GM Interview Playbook because I’m preparing for my first GM interview and, if I’m being truthful, I didn’t really know what to expect at that level.

I’ve worked in hotel operations for years, so I know how to run the operation, deal with guests, lead teams and handle the daily pressures. But a GM interview is different. This playbook really helped me understand how I need to think and speak as a GM, not just as an Operations Manager.

There were quite a few moments while reading it where I thought, ‘I would never have thought to prepare for that question.’ It also made me realise that I have more GM-level experience than I was giving myself credit for — I just needed to know how to communicate it properly.

For anyone who is an Ops Manager, Deputy GM or HOD and wants to take that next step, buy it before you start interviewing. Even if you think you know what they’re going to ask you, there’s so much in here that will make you look at your preparation differently.

I’m definitely walking into my interview feeling more prepared and much more confident. Money well spent.
