BCTA FREP Test 1 Strategic Blueprint & Study Pack — Your build-up plan to 18 August

The foundation of the Test 1 study build: what to focus on, in what order, and how to spend every week from the 10 July start to exam day.

What the Blueprint is

A strategic document built on all seven past Test 1 sittings — B19S Hopeful through to the most recent, B25F LifeLine Logistics — each read line by line against its own memorandum and mark plan. It's the analytical foundation every study guide and mock in this pack is built on.

Why is Test 1 predictable?

Test 1 is a Financial Reporting paper that draws from the same standards every sitting: the recognition-and-measurement core of IAS 16, IAS 37, IAS 12 and IAS 21, with IAS 40, IAS 2, IFRS 5 and the Conceptual Framework rounding out the paper. No consolidations — group accounting has never once appeared in seven Test 1 sittings. The examiner builds every paper from the same blocks: a PPE cost-and-measurement question, a provision (usually a constructive obligation arising after adverse publicity, or a rehabilitation/decommissioning estimate), a foreign-currency creditor, and — in all seven papers — a deferred tax requirement. The Blueprint ranks every topic by how likely it is to appear and how many marks it carries, from deferred tax (in all seven papers, and the single largest requirement on the paper) and PPE through provisions and foreign currency to the classification and error-correction "form" questions that carry technique, not new content.

Where the marks actually are

The Blueprint gives you the honest mark profile counted across the seven papers: deferred tax nineteen marks, PPE fourteen, provisions eleven, foreign currency seven — meaning IAS 12 and IAS 16 together are more than half the paper, and both appear every single sitting. You get the tier ranking (Tier 1 red through Tier 3 purple), and why the deferred tax grid is the block most likely to decide your result — get one sign wrong and the balance, the journal, the tax expense and the rate reconciliation all fall together.

The build-up plan

Sequenced by predicted mark value, not the content-release schedule — so you cross 75% of the high-value topics inside Week 3 and finish the full predicted paper by end of Week 5, before the 17 August revision day. Week 1 the PPE spine, Week 2 provisions and foreign currency, Week 3 deferred tax (the largest single topic), Week 4 classification and error correction, then Week 5 as a full 60-mark dress rehearsal built to the exact expected mark profile.

What comes with each week?

A study guide, a mock question, and a challenger — a harder variant deliberately pitched above Test 1, with a built-in trap — each mock and challenger with its own full suggested solution and per-part mark plan, all in authentic Milpark Test 1 style. Every solution ships as a multi-tab Excel workbook with a Navigator, scenario triggers, framework routines, per-part answers and marker notes — and every mark total reconciles independently. The pack culminates in the flagship 60-mark full mock (Vaalpark Industries) with a nine-tab suggested solution whose deferred tax rate reconciliation closes to exactly zero, proving the model end to end.
