Health Plan Comparison Calculator 2027 | Open Enrollment Spreadsheet (Excel + Google Sheets)
Open enrollment is here, and the plan with the lowest premium is not always the cheapest one.
This spreadsheet compares up to 4 health plans side by side and shows what each would really cost you for the whole year: premiums plus what you pay for care, minus any employer HSA/HRA money and the tax you save on your own HSA contributions.
What you get
- Plan Inputs: premium per paycheck, deductible, coinsurance, out-of-pocket max, copays, HSA details. Just copy the numbers from each plan's summary.
- My Year: enter how many doctor visits, prescriptions and tests you expect. Copays are used where a plan has them; everything else runs through the deductible and coinsurance, capped at the out-of-pocket max.
- Results: total yearly cost for a healthy year, a typical year, a high-use year, the worst case, and your own estimate. The cheapest plan in each row is highlighted, with a chart.
- Checklist: a one-page open enrollment checklist (doctors in network, prescriptions on the formulary, dependents, HSA/FSA elections, deadline).
- Key 2027 dates for Medicare, the ACA Marketplace and employer enrollment.
Works with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (upload to Drive and open with Sheets). Example numbers are filled in so you can see how it works in seconds.
Good for employees choosing between PPO, HMO and HDHP plans, families comparing a spouse's plan, and anyone shopping on the Marketplace.
