midnight and into the early morning on August 25, 2018.



Only weeks later, the historic Tsukiji Market would close.

These photographs remained in an archive for years before being

rediscovered and shaped into a photo book. Together, they preserve the

atmosphere of Tokyo at night, the approach of morning, and a market

nearing the end of an era.

The photo books use fixed page layouts designed to preserve the

relationship between photographs, text, and space. A tablet or larger

About the Work

All photographs were taken by the author. The photographs, sequence,

text, and final editorial decisions are original work. Generative AI was

used as an editorial tool during parts of the production process,

including organization and translation assistance.
