Deepest Winter

I wrote this song whilst visiting family in Israel where it was hot and lovely and this song came to me a few days before our departure back home to England and the cold.

I do love the darker seasons, they are in a way my most fertile times of creativity; the melancholic mood of Autumn, the cosiness of the darker evenings, the stillness, yet when we are in deep winter there is also the faintest whispers on the horizon of Spring.

This is also a time when we set out intentions for the year ahead, and for me, the hope for Peace is always in my mind, and the will for togetherness is a common thread woven into most of my music, both acapella and my folk songs.

The recording of both parts being sung together is from my Women's Singing Circle in Brighton.

Deepest Winter is Upon us Now

And we shall gather together and Sow our Seeds

For we all Know

That when we are one

That Spring Will Come

And Grow our Hope
