Use this pattern to practise adding beads to your crochet projects. The add as you go method is used for the beads – no pre-stringing required. A simple ripple base is used for the project, with the beads adding a little sparkle.

Yarn:

DK weight yarn, 220-250 m per 100 g

44 (50, 55) g

Hook: 4.5 mm / G-7 or size to achieve gauge.

Notions: 1.0 mm crochet hook for adding beads, 154 (176, 198) size 6 (4 mm) seed beads, tapestry needle.

Skills: Chain, treble, treble two together (instructions given), adding beads (instructions given), working into back loop, weaving in ends, blocking.

Gauge: One repeat of the ripple pattern measures 7.5 cm / 3” after blocking, 9 rows of pattern measures 10 cm / 4”. Gauge is not critical for this project, but different gauges will affect the finished size and yarn required.

Sizing: finished circumference of 52.5 (60, 67.5) cm / 21 (24, 27)” and a depth of 14 cm / 5 ½”.
