Neuf Contes et Nouvelles de Maupassant Study Guide

Maupassant can be challenging for French students. This is a study guide worksheet for French intermediate students. There is a separate worksheet for each of the nine stories in the collection, covering vocabulary, and discussion and comprehension questions. For the vocabulary, there will be likely many new and unfamiliar words that the students will have to look up to complete the worksheet. I have however supplied some of the definitions, either because the use of the word is different from what the students may already know, or because it is an older expression, out of use, slang, or very regional. I have also indicated whether it is a false cognate (indicated by f.a.), dated expression (vieilli), a different part of speech thus requiring a different definition, a word used differently in the context (indicated by ici), or a popular expression (indicated by familier). The questions can be done in advance and checked, or discussed in class at the time of reading.
