Grief Is An Anchor by Rose McCoy

SOMETIMES, THINGS ARE DARK. Rose McCoy is the first person to admit that, and the ten poems in “G R I E F I S A N A N C H O R .” showcase an honesty within that darkness that often doesn’t exist among “well-adjusted adults.” 

Raw and unflinching, these poems tell the truth of grief and tragedy as McCoy sees it—no padding or sugar-coating will be found here. Instead, you’ll find all the realities of the secondhand sorrow and vicarious hurt that can come from hearing of tragedies in the news, from a friend, in an overheard conversation—anywhere, really.

Rose McCoy (she/her) is a poet from West Virginia who frequently writes on love, grief, and mental illness.
