The Scary Tapes: An Anthology is the collected works of fifteen writers who participated in a Speculative Horror writing competition put on by Real Good AI, regarding the real issues with modern day AI. The goal was to present AI accurately and fairly to educate the public on the real issues and not the media narratives. Real Good AI is a 501(c)3 research nonprofit created by content creators and PhD scientists coming together to improve transparency and safety of AI for a better world. None of these stories were written by AI. In fact, no AI generated content is in this final product. The goal was to highlight human creativity in a world where writers are frequently being replaced by AI despite human writing being much more creative than anything AI can generate. The anthology was not planned at first, however there were so many good stories Real Good AI felt the need to celebrate more of the writers who made this work possible. So without further ado:

Imagine if you will, a world where machines are cooled with the most precious of resources, while the world heats without end and humans die of thirst. Where corporations feed increasingly mundane data to machines, calibrated to elicit real emotion. Data without reason, chasing dreams of endless growth in finite systems.

That world exists today, in the now, but here, in this liminal space of smoke and algorithms, between the real and the virtual, are tales of machine dreams imagined by organic minds. Warning of the dangers of unchecked AI and the darkness of the black box. We can illuminate the way armed with the Scary Tapes...
