Eight calculators for pricing carpet cleaning jobs from your own year, not from anyone's price list. Sheet 1 turns the income you want, your costs, cancels, driving and unpaid admin into an hourly floor: $63.84 per paid hour on site in the worked example. Sheet 2 works out solution and machine wear per job from container prices and coverage, with a truck mount and a portable side by side. Sheet 3 sets a price per square foot from your cleaning speed, sheet 4 a price per room from the size of your rooms, and sheet 5 prices stairs, upholstery and stain work. Sheet 6 sets a travel charge and a minimum job, sheet 7 compares per-room and per-square-foot bills on the same job, and sheet 8 checks whether a finished job paid your floor. Every figure is an example for you to overwrite. These are estimates, not tax or legal advice. Every formula was recalculated and checked against an independent implementation before this shipped.

What is in it

8 calculators, one per sheet. Overwrite the blue cells with your own numbers and everything else follows. Nothing is locked, there are no macros, and it opens in Excel, Numbers, LibreOffice and Google Sheets.

  • Hourly floor rate: What must an hour on a job earn to pay you and the business?
  • Solution and machine cost: What do cleaning solution and machine wear cost you per job?
  • Price per square foot: What should you charge per square foot, from your own hours?
  • Price per room: What should one room cost, from the size of your rooms?
  • Stairs, upholstery, stains: What should stairs, upholstery and stain work add to a job?
  • Travel and minimum charge: What should a long drive add, and what is your minimum job?
  • Per room vs per sq ft: On this job, does pricing per room or per sq ft bill more?
  • Job profitability check: Did this job pay your floor once its costs are out?

Every formula was checked

This pack contains 64 formulas. Before it was published, every one of them was recalculated by a spreadsheet engine and compared against an independent implementation of the same arithmetic written in Python. All 64 agreed to within a cent, and the workbook carries a Verification sheet saying so.

That is an unusual thing to be able to claim about a spreadsheet, and it is the main reason to buy this one rather than download a free template. A formula that looks right and is wrong is worse than no formula at all, because you will act on it.

What each calculator assumes

There is a sheet listing this, because a calculator that hides its assumptions is just a number generator:

  • Every working week looks the same. A cancelled slot is time you are at work and unpaid. Driving and admin are counted as hours you enter, so the floor already pays for that much driving. The tax set-aside is a share you enter, not a computed tax.
  • Coverage per container comes from your label and your own count; follow the label for dilution and use. A machine's price is spread over the jobs you expect from it. Upkeep is spread over the jobs you do a year.
  • Cleaning time scales with area at the rate you enter; setup and pack-up are the same on every job. Solution scales with area. Furniture moving beyond setup is not counted.
  • Every room on the job is the size you measured. Setup is counted once per job. Halls, closets and stairs are left out; price stairs on sheet 5.
  • Add-ons are done during a job you are already at, so no extra setup is counted. Minutes and product are your own figures. Whether a stain comes out is not something this sheet can tell you; price the time you spend on it.
  • Sheet 1 already pays for the driving hours you entered there, so the minimum adds only vehicle cost for the included miles and the travel charge covers miles beyond them. Vehicle cost per mile is your own figure, not a published rate.
  • A room counts if its square feet are above zero. Both prices are the ones you enter; the sheet compares bills and does not say which way of pricing is better for your customers.
  • Business costs and unpaid hours are already inside the floor from sheet 1, so this sheet subtracts only the costs that come with the job. Tips are left out.

What this is not

Not financial, tax or legal advice, and not a recommendation to buy, sell, borrow or sign anything. These are calculators: they show what a choice costs, not which choice is right for you. Where a published rate or threshold is used it is the one current when the pack was built; those change, the arithmetic does not.

Honest about the format

One .xlsx workbook, 8 calculator sheets plus Start Here, Assumptions and Verification. Not a PDF, not a physical product, not a Notion template. Available immediately after purchase; nothing ships.
