Skirting the Fires of Revolution

Everything Rarkin and his team have experienced at the hands of a rogue crime boss and vigilante sorceress has been preparation for something bigger. Sythe has been failing children and women living with abuse, to remove the inequity of colonialism and imperialism and to ensure equitable healthcare. Naydah bubbles with unrest and the vigilante sorceress and her people are putting carefully laid, revolutionary plans into action.

Rarkin and his team are called to Naydah to play Sythe’s peace keeping and violence minimisation role, but Rarkin is deeply sympathetic to the sorceress’ cause. In fact; she’s recruited him. And Sythe know it. Officially, both sides are using Rarkin as their (barely trained, surviving on street smarts, flying by the seat of his pants) spy. Unofficially, he’s a backdoor communication channel between the Old Regime, and an aspiring New Regime, as the fires of revolution heat up.

But Rarkin has his own agenda. And it isn’t merely supporting the sorceress. He knows the vigilante leaders are themselves victims. That just as he was once at risk of becoming his abusive father; the vigilantes are at risk of becoming their abusers. Rarkin’s goal is to help the revolution succeed, AND to save it from itself, while avoiding conflict with his many friends and mentors, still working for Sythe; the revolution’s other side.
