I composed Love in the Time of COVID-19 near to the beginning of the world-wide pandemic, in response to stay at home orders that were beginning to proliferate across the US as well as my own reignited obsession with reading Gabriel García Márquez. The title is a nod to his novel Love in the Time of Cholera, and was published in Eric Haas’s collection The Soprano Recorder Solo Book.

This piece was originally written for solo soprano recorder in its lowest, most mournful and meditative register.
