A controller lands next to Jisoo’s face when he wasn’t expecting it. His eyes fly open.

“Gotta pay the toll,” Chaeyong says, halfway across the room where he’s turning his TV on. “Play a round with me.”

“Are you serious?” he asks from behind the tent of his arm, slung up over his eyes.

“Deadly,” Chaeyong says. And then, a little lighter but a little more honest— “You gotta earn me, too. Just a little bit.”
