The apostle Paul warned Christians to be careful to not fall (1 Cor. 10:12). Just before that admonition he noted that the things written about the Israelites were written for our admonition.

Amos prophesied during a time of plenty, but when the people had rejected God and his paths, leading to one of Amos’ most well- known quotes “Prepare to meet your God, O Israel”. These judgments of God and visions from God give us insight into what is important to God, and how we may avoid the same mistakes.
