Hurrah for Spring, and for babies showing off their little arms!

The Canonbury Baby Vest is the perfect layering piece. Babies keep their arms free to wriggle and play, and parents appreciate the extra layer of warmth. The fun contemporary style is interesting to knit, and it’s such a small garment that you’ll whip this up in a flash!

It’s pretty unusual to have vertical stripes on knitted garments, but the Canonbury Vest’s clever construction makes these a breeze. The vest is worked sideways, with increases and decreases to shape the neck and armholes. The central panel, which runs down the front and back, features a slipped stitch mosaic pattern. This eye-catching feature is simple and uses only one colour per row, with no complicated stranding or charts.

You’ll need 3 colours of yarn, and you can knit any size with 25g or less of each colour. The smallest two sizes need less than 20g of each, so why not break out those miniskein sets and get going today?
