Lion City, a small island off the southern tip of Malaysia, was discovered in 1819 by Sir Raffles of the British East India Company. Lion City was then occupied by Japan for three years and eight months in 1945. Following Japan's defeat in World War II, Lion City joined Malaysia as a state. However, due to various factors, the government established in Lion City declared independence from Malaysia on August 9, 1965, becoming the Republic of Singapore. This poignant period is a profound experience that the younger generation of Singaporeans after independence will never experience. To commemorate Singapore's 60th anniversary, we've created three ice sculptures of the SG60 commemorative T-shirts for everyone to cherish and wear!
