Writing Your Own Service & Care Manual: A Workbook by HG Wyndell
This workbook is meant to give you a starting point for developing your own
service and care manual. It is based on my own service document and experience
of similar documents when working with touring performance artists.
Sections include:
- General Care: Medical, Communication
- Routine Care: Mobility, Hygiene, Rest
- Food Care: Restrictions and Preferences, Beverages, Meals, Snacks, Eating Out/Take Away
- Travel Care
How to get the most out of this:
- Try not to assume anyone’s “normal,” let them know what things mean to you so they can meet you well.
- Take what works for you and feel free to leave the rest.
- Plan to update this as things arise and needs change. This will function best as a living document.

Testimonial:
"In over 20 years as a caregiver and nearly 20 years in need of care, I never had an organization, group, or agency offer a manual to assist with receiving services and care in the manner I desire. If I were offered anything, it was a short pamphlet describing what care would be provided, and it was limited in scope. This manual gives you control over creating tailored care and service plans, because we may have the same clinical diagnosis, but individual needs can be vastly different. It has great trigger questions regarding care and service needs that are often overlooked. I wish this had been available years ago. I am blessed that it can be used to advocate for my own service and care needs." – Apryl Miller
