BEST OF THE BEST THE BIRTH AND LEGACY OF A LEGEND

Best of the Best: The Birth and Legacy of a Legend

By Freddie Lee Hare Jr. & Olivia Leeahna Hare

Freddie Lee Hare Sr. came out of North Omaha, from Kellom Elementary and the corner of 24th and Caldwell. Basketball was his escape, his identity and his resistance. He survived a house fire and the daily fires of racism. Then his achievements went unrecorded and his legacy was pushed aside.

This book restores what was buried. Built on his own writings and finished by his son, it tells the story of a man who met every barrier the world set before him and kept moving anyway.

The fire meant to erase him now lights him up.

This is not mythology. This is memory reclaimed.
