THE INFLUENCE OF THE INTERNET ON INFORMATION ACQUISITION AMONG STUDENTS OF ABIA STATE UNIVERSITY
This study explores and investigates the Influence of the Internet on Information Acquisition among Students of Abia State University, Abia during the 2018-2019 Academic Sessions. However, as the Internet is seen to be a somewhat troublesome media, Social Cognitive Theory underpinned this study giving prominence in understanding how students can self-regulate the use of new media especially the Internet and perform a particular cause of action at a time. The specific objectives of this study are to determine how often students use the Internet; to reveal why students use the Internet; to establish the relationship between students’ use of the Internet for information acquisition and their academic performance; to suggest ways in which the negative use of the Internet if any, can be mitigated as the Internet has become an information superhighway. This research consists of a title page, approval page, certification, abstract, table of content, Chapters One to Five (from introduction to conclusion), references and appendices.
