Live-Edge River Side Table — Wood + Epoxy Build Plan No. 22, PDF Plan with Layout Diagram, Cut List & Costs
Build the room anchor: two live-edge walnut slabs with a tinted epoxy river running between them, on steel hairpin legs — Blueprint #1's river board scaled up into furniture, and the biggest build in the series. This 5-page PDF plan (Build Plan No. 22 in the Fox Feather Farms winter series) makes the side table with a 24 x 18 in (61 x 46 cm) top, 1.5 in thick, at a finished height of 23.5 in (60 cm) — level with a sofa arm — at about 2.6 L of deep-pour epoxy. Inside: a dimensioned layout diagram, a complete cut list (slabs, the river pour, 22 in hairpin legs, threaded inserts, the reusable mold), the full epoxy math, a materials list with per-line costs in Canadian dollars (about $338 typical), the tools required, finishes and cure times, and a 6-step build summary. The hard-won lessons are in the plan: seal-coat the live edges first or bubble streams ruin the river, pour only in the layer depths the epoxy is rated for, hold the cure warm at 21–24 C, and bolt the legs through threaded inserts — never screws into end grain or epoxy, never a bolt landing in the river. A custom river colour matched to the room costs nothing extra; the tint is already in the mix. About 8–11 hours of active work across a 9–12 day elapsed timeline that is almost all curing. Personal use only — print and use as often as you like for yourself or as gifts; please don't redistribute the files or resell them.
What you need: Two kiln-dried live-edge walnut slabs (24 x 6.5 x 1.75 in), deep-pour epoxy (buy the 3.78 L kit; about 2.6 L pours), a set of four 22 in steel hairpin legs with threaded inserts, a melamine/HDPE mold, a planer/jointer or router flattening sled, and a warm (21–24 C) curing space. A printer if you want the plan on paper.
