Knowing letter names and knowing letter sounds are two completely different things — and the second one is what reading is built on. Plenty of children can recite A-B-C perfectly and still can't read the word "cat."

These three books take your child through the full journey, in the right order:

Book 1 — Beginning Sounds A–Z. Each letter comes with its sound cue ("say /a/"), and your child listens and circles the picture that starts with it. Real listening practice, with a hand-drawn picture for every letter from Ant to Zebra.

Book 2 — Middle & Ending Sounds. The short vowel in the middle of a word is the hardest sound for a child to hear — and the one that unlocks reading. A full page each for a, e, i, o and u, then ending sounds, then hearing all three sounds in a word.

Book 3 — CVC Words. Seven word families (-at, -an, -ig, -og, -un, -en, -ot), each word broken into its sounds (c • a • t) before being blended into a whole word. The last page has three real sentences your child reads on their own. That's usually the page parents remember.
