Make Monday writing personal, visual, and routine. Each week, students open their Weekend Journal slide, insert a photo or drawing of their weekend in the picture area at the top, and type a complete paragraph in the color-coded T3DC boxes at the bottom. The layout stays the same all year, so students spend their energy on writing.

What is T3DC? A simple paragraph structure students use every week: a Topic sentence, 3 details in order, a concluding sentence (D), and the C "sauce": extra details that answer the questions a reader might ask.

What's inside (45 slides, PowerPoint file that opens in Google Slides)

  • 36 weekly journal slides (Week 1 to Week 36): a blank photo area at the top, Name and Date boxes, and six typing boxes for Topic, Detail 1, Detail 2, Detail 3, Conclusion, and Sauce, with First, Next, and Then sentence starters
  • Teacher directions slide for assigning in Google Classroom
  • Weekend Journal anchor chart slide: Your Expectations and Use T3DC
  • Model entry slide with a labeled example picture and color-coded paragraph
  • 4 bonus slides: My Weekend in 3 Pictures (Friday, Saturday, Sunday captions), Weekend Word Bank with transition words, a typeable Self-Check, and a Share Your Weekend partner talk slide with speaking stems
  • Terms of use slide

How it works: assign the deck with Make a copy for each student. Students insert their own photo (Insert, Image) or a drawing. Slide backgrounds are part of the layout, so only the photo area and typing boxes change.
