Lichfield
Lichfield is a cropped cardigan inspired by the stone niches on Lichfield Cathedral. It uses the Two-Wrap Knot, a Japanese stitch pattern, to create a mock cable or smocked effect that reflects this carving.
Lichfield was first published in Issue 191 of The Knitter magazine in July 2023.
In 10 sizes from UK4 to UK42, Lichfield is worked flat and seamed, making use of an interesting Japanese stitch pattern. The pattern is used to create a decorative border at the bottom of the body of the cardigan and sleeves, and is also used for the picked-up neckband. An elongated development of the stitch pattern creates a vertical panel up the centre back.
