Psychological Safety: Creating the Conditions for Teams to Learn, Adapt and Improve

This Idea introduces the original research that defined psychological safety and demonstrated its impact on team learning and performance. Drawing on a multimethod study of 51 teams, it shows how a climate of interpersonal safety enables people to speak up, share mistakes, and experiment, making psychological safety the essential mechanism through which teams learn and deliver results.
